In Every Heartbeat

As three friends who grew up in the same orphanage head off to college together, they each harbor a cherished dream.

Libby Conley hopes to become a famous journalist. Pete Leidig believes God has called him to study to become a minister. And Bennett Martin plans to pledge a fraternity, find a place to belong, and have as much fun as possible.

But as tensions rise around the world on the brink of World War I, the friends' differing aspirations and opinions begin to divide them, as well. And when Libby makes a shocking discovery about Pete's family, will it drive a final wedge between the friends or bond them in ways they never anticipated?

Book Review

Three friends who grew up in an orphanage.    They adopted each other as family.    However, despite the fact that they only had each other, their lives were still shaped by the circumstances which forced them to land in the orphanage to start.

Libby has developed a fierce sense of independence to compensate for her beginnings.    She believes that a woman can do anything a man can do.   Pete has developed a huge faith in God and has a desire to go into the ministry.      Bennett just wants to fit in as a normal kid.   He wants to be accepted as "one of the guys".

Libby, Pete and Bennett have their chance to explore their world and spread their wings when they go to college.    They see each other in brand new ways.   They are also challenged in how they seem themselves.

Their friendship is stretched and challenged.     It is a turning point in their lives.     You will have to read the book to see where it turns them to and towards.

This book was provided to me for free by Bethany Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
