TOS Review: Positive Action for Christ

It was Thanksgiving weekend when the package containing the Positive Action for Christ materials arrived.    I was curled up on my couch with hot chocolate watching college football.     I opened the box and was just going to glance through the materials at halftime to see what was included in the very substantial box.

Studying the book of John is vital to any Christian's spiritual life.    All of the Gospels are written to tell the story of Jesus' life, but only one is written to the "every man".   That is the Gospel of John.     That is why it is the one that speaks to clearly to new, growing and mature Christians alike.

I was very impressed by the materials that they sent for their study on the Life of Christ from the Gospel of John.
Geared towards middle school and high school students, the study comes with a study manual which breaks each lesson down into a lesson to be read along with homework to be included before discussion time with the teacher.

The student's manual includes:

* Content age-appropriate for middle school or high school
* Illustrations and notes from the teacher's lesson
* An introductory section with reading and homework to be completed in advance
* Additional student research for each lesson
* A Digging Deeper section with further ideas for expanding each lesson
* A recommended reading list
* Original artwork to introduce each lesson
* Full-color pages with charts, maps, and photos
* 8 x 10 inch size
* 277 pages

The teacher's manual included in depth information on each lesson along with quizzes and tests for each lesson.     There were also a great number of charts and maps.      I found a chart which showed how this could be used in almost in any style or learning situation.    They had a chart which showed you how to break down your lessons into either three, four or five day sessions.

The teacher's manual includes:

* 35 lessons (one lesson per week)
* Plans for 3, 4, or 5-day a week Bible classes
* Full copy of student's manual with answers
* Reproducible quizzes and unit tests that use a variety of testing techniques
* Overhead transparency masters
* 342 pages

 Disclaimer:  As part of the TOS Homeschool Review Crew, I did receive this book for free from Positive Action for Christ.  The fact that I received complimentary products does not guarantee a favorable review.  It does guarantee a review. A fair review. But I am not going to praise something unless I think it deserves the praise.  If I don't like it, you'll hear that.  And hopefully with enough detail as to why so you can decide for yourself if what I hate about it makes it perfect for your family.
