But it’s about to become hell. One day, out of the blue, she receives a series of anonymous notes that sends her life into a tail spin. Five simple words, “I know what you did.” Zoe has a secret so terrible it could leave the business in shambles and tear her marriage apart. Unbeknownst to anyone, even Zoe’s husband, Pierce, she has a past—a past she had covered so well she never thought she would have to confront. How could anyone know what she did? Can she find the courage to face her past?
If you would like to read the first chapter of False Pretenses, go HERE.
"I know what you did." Imagine if you started receiving notes that said simply that. I don't care who you are I think it would give you pause. For the character of this book, Zoe, it sent her into a tailspin. Since she left home to escape a life of abuse she has lied and made choices that would help her hide the life she left behind.
With that one note she is afraid she is going to lose the life she has carefully crafted. She has a thriving restaurant, a loving husband and new friends. Now she has to make even more choices about how far she is going to go to hide those choices.
I read this book in one sitting it was so well written. However, it was such a great reminder that we are all products of the choices we make.
