Book Review

There are children like Patricia all around us.    Growing up in homes that are far from what God intended.    Going to school every day hungry and trying to learn while their stomachs growl intensely.    Hiding in a closet while their parents fight and suffer the effects of too much alcohol.      It is a world that most of us are hidden from.

However, Patricia gives us more than a glimpse.   She gives us a day by day walk through what is like to live like this.     It is heart breaking to know that children are living their lives like this because parents make such bad choices.

However, it is also a good reminder that one person can make a huge difference in the life of another person.    Patricia takes her mother's advice and goes to college so that she can get an education.    Of course, getting an education is not as easy as her mother thinks it is.     It is very expensive.    A school administrator takes her under his wing and helps her with finances to allow her to finish her education.     Along with her persistance, he gives her the chance she needs to make a huge chance in her life.

Patricia proves that there is a chance to be safe from your past.
