Posting the fact that I have fibromyalgia on my blog has opened the door for people to ask me about it. The thing about fibromyalgia is that it is so hard to describe to people. Most of the time I have told people to imagine having the achese of the flu... all the time 24 hours a day seven days a week.
However, recently I saw on a website that the National Fibromyalgia Association has created a challenge to show non-sufferers what the pain is like. Here is how it works:
***Place a clothespin on your finger
***Set a timer for 30 minutes
***See how long you can bear the pain. Did you leave the clothespin on for 15 minutes? 10? 5?
Now imagine not being able to take the clothespin off ever! Imagine this pain for the rest of your life. This should help you understand what it is like to live with constant fibromyalgia pain.
Being diagnosed with fibromyalgia was life changing for me. However, seeing the circumstances through God’s eyes has allowed me to control the fibro instead of it controlling me. “The LORD God is my strength, and He has made my feet like hind’s feet, and makes me walk on my high places” (Hab. 3:19).
