Listening

In the grand scheme of things it was small.    But I just couldn't ignore it.    I should have been paying attention to the amazing music, the pastor's sermon, even the sense of peace I felt just being in the sanctuary, but I just couldn't.   No matter what I did I couldn't ignore or even put it out of my mind.

When I first saw it I was horrified and then the stark hilarity of it hit me.     It is no secret to anyone who reads this blog that I am a person of routine.    Without I tend to get lost and wander through the day.     However, staring at me was glaring evidence of just how routine my life has become.     All of a sudden I felt as though God was preaching His own sermon to me.    "Break out of the routine, Deanna.    I want you to take a few new paths.    Explore a few new options.    Consider some new opportunities."

If God can speak to Moses through a burning bush, then I don't find it at all weird that He can speak to me and get my attention through one extraordinarily long hair by my ankle that I had apparently been NOT shaving for several weeks.

I have no idea what God has in store for me and my future, but I am so glad that He holds it all in His hand.

Amazing the ways He can get our attention.

As methods of attention-getting go, that one is pretty good! Is it not just amazing that God has such a sense of humor that He can send us a message -- and send humor with it as well?
