Thankful Thursday: Hot Chocolate

Waking up on these past few mornings with the extra blanket, curled up in the arms of my sweet hubs... I haven't wanted to get out of bed. The only thing that will pull me out of that warm and toasty place is my sweet boys' faces saying, "Mom, can you make us some hot chocolate?"

My boys are just like me. Hot chocolate is one of the first traditions associated with the first signs of cold weather. On Monday afternoon, when we arrived home from school their eyes lit up when they saw the steaming mugs of hot chocolate and big warm bowl of cinnamon popcorn waiting for them. Little Guy said, "It really is fall!"

Growing up, I always knew that fall had arrived when my Mom would begin making hot chocolate and toast for breakfast. I love hot chocolate and toast for breakfast. My Daddy taught us to dip our toast in our hot chocolate. My Mom thought that was the most disgusting habit ever, but we thought it tasted delicious. And if Mom made cinnamon toast? Wow!

Now today, my boys are like me and love hot chocolate and toast for breakfast. One guy loves to dip and one guy doesn't. Both think Mom's hot chocolate is the best in the world.
That is why on this Thankful Thursday, I am thankful for traditions and for hot chocolate.

I am beginning to get REALLY jealous of you bloggers who are having cold weather! Although I am THANKFUL for it being in the 70's I'd much rather it be a little colder for Halloween! And I LOVEEEE hot chocolate--such a good mom! :)

Hot chocolate is wonderful isn't it. And so is having a sweet hubby to cuddle with! Sorry to hear about your kidney stones, I know how miserable that can be, I've had them 3 different times. I'll be praying for you!

My hot chocolate recipe isn't really special, but here it is:

1 large mug
3 heaping tablespoons of hot chocolate mix
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon chocolate syrup
hot water
Redi Whip
mini chocolate chips

Mix hot chocolate mix, sugar and chocolate syrup with hot water. Top with Redi Whip and mini chocolate chips.

As far as the cinnamon popcorn, I buy it in a box. I think it is made by ACT?

Mmmmmm....I love hot cocoa!! Just realized I've always called it cocoa not chocolate. Wonder why??

I love cocoa with marshmallows. The marshmallows have to sit for a few minutes and get a little smooshy. Yummm.....I am making some no sugar added (no marshmallows--boooooo) just to stop the insanity!
