It Won't Kill You, But...

If you read my blog you know that I went for a sleep study a few weeks ago. My appointment for the results were yesterday morning. The boys had to go with me so I had them pack up their Nintendo DS systems and a favorite book "just in case". "Just in case" turned into reality as our wait time was two hours! Two hours at a sleep clinic? What were they doing? Taking a nap?

When the doctor came in he showed me all of my results. Basically it looked like a bunch of etch-a-sketch drawings. He said that I did not have sleep agnea. That was good news. I snore, but not enough to wake me up. That much I knew.

He said that what they did discover was that I woke up 150 times during the study. He said that the study also showed that I never went past the Stage 2 level of sleep.

Their conclusion? My pain from fibromyalgia is keeping me from sleeping.

Really? I just paid you no telling how much money for you to tell me what I have known for how many years now?

Just to be polite I asked him the required question: Do you know of anything that can help or make sleep better?

His answer (the same as every other doctor when you are talking about fibromyalgia): I wish there were something.

So.... I packed the boys up. Thanked them for being patient and went out for pizza for lunch.

Fibromyalia.... it won't kill you, but some days it might make you wish you were dead.

Thanks! I will be fine. I have learned how to cope. It is just on days like the doctor's visit when I get yucky reminders that I let it get me down. After that I get back to normal and try to ignore the fact that I have the fibro.

Deanna, google Dr. Jeffrey Thompson. Buy his Delta Sleep System CD. You will not be sorry!!
Barnes & Noble and Amazon carry it.
I have a head injury that keeps me from going past stage two also and that is why I have the FMS. So I found this CD, and he uses these tones, with ocean waves to entice the brain into those deeper stages. I mean I have done everything, (rx-sleep meds, melatonin, benadryl, etc.)for ten years and this is the first thing that has worked.
The first night, that I used it made me think I hadn't been asleep, like my body went to sleep but my brain didn't but I felt some better. I kept using it, every day I feel a little better. I am not selling these and I don't get a commision, that's why I didn't send you a link. I make no money from this(wish I did, because I have recommended it to an awful lot of people).
The CD is only about $12 and it has really made a difference for me. I hope it will work for you!

I am sorry they couldn't do anything to help. My husband used to facilitate a class on managing fibromyalgia years ago and he told me that chronic condition affects just about everything. I'll pray for you that you can find some relief.

Heather - I will check into that CD. Thanks for letting me know about it.

K - Prayer and God has been the best thing so far for this. He helps me choose my 'tude.

Wifey - Your cat -- the poo and waking you 150 times a night. She is sounding more and more evil!! :-)

Sorry to hear about this! Sometimes we waste visits just to waste money... but at least you have peace of mind now!
