Sophisticated Taste

My son has sophisticated taste. When we went out to eat the other night, the waitress commented on the fact that our six year old ordered sweet tea with his entree of Asian Grilled Salmon topped with shrimp and a side order of rice pilaf and steamed broccoli. (Yes, he ate all of it!)

This afternoon I needed to run to Barnes and Noble so I told the boys that we would grab a snack. When I asked Little Guy what he would like to have as a snack, I am glancing over the cookies, rice krispie treat and other sweets when he walks up to the counter and tells the lady that he would like to order a spinach and feta cheese stuffed pretzel "warmed slightly".

He ate the entire thing telling me about his school day and said that he thought that the pretzels would be a wonderful thing to add to the school menu. Hear that Madison County Schools?

On the way home he asked what we were having for supper. When I admitted I hadn't thought that far, he asked how I would feel about trying to make a grilled tomato, egg and brie sandwich.

Yep. My guy. He is a sophisticated one. His birthday is coming up. Can't wait to hear what he wants for his birthday supper. I can assure you that we won't be going to Gattitown of McDonald's. I just hope we can afford it!

I have a feeling Little T would put me to shame if I ever went out to dinner with him.

Okay, he is impressive. I wouldn't have a clue about a brei and what grilled tomato sandwich. I have to say, it sounds awesome. Can I hire him as my personal chef?

Sorry, Lisa. I think Dr. Wifey has already put in her order, but first he has to finish perfecting his cooking skills here at home. Ha!

Hmmm....a future star of the Food Network? Your kids just sound so interesting, funny, and downright cool. :)

(I love the background you've added to your site.)

Well praise the Lord! One of the many nightmares which wake me in a cold sweat in the middle of the night is the thought of being dragged to a MAcDonalnds, or having a kid who's answer to any food suggestion is "I WANT CHIPS!"

Wow!

So, where's he getting all of these ideas from - and how did he become so willing to try them?

Deanna said...

Doghouse - He is a Food Network NUT! He is fearless. No matter what: food, fun or friends! He just goes for the gusto!

Awesome!! I refuse to have a child who won't eat anything besides chicken strips and fries!! I will make sure I tell the midget all about little guy and his sophisticated palate, so she has someone to look up to!
