WFW: Iron Sharpens Iron

I love to cook. When you are cooking you want to have a good set of knives. It is important to have a good, sharp set of knives. Using dull knives is not only a lot more work, but actually very dangerous. A dull knife can cut you a lot faster than a sharp one. It is harder to control because of the amount of force it takes to cut.

It is kind of the same way with friends. I can look at my friends and identify a specific character trait that they have that has "sharpened" me. One of my friends is very wise. One is very loving. One is giving while another is a very good Spiritual mentor.

One the other side, there have been a few friends in my life who have been "dull" knives. Constantly complaining, bickering, whining and gossipping, I felt as if I were being whittled away at with a dull knife.

The Bible says that "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." I have come to realize that the people I surround myself with and the friends I choose are very important. They are molding me and sharpening me into the woman of God that I am meant to be.

Great post!! yes those dull knivers can hurt us worst than a sharp knife. So it is better to either get rid of them or take them and sharpen them, We really shouldn't throw them away if we don't have to, sometimes it's not that hard to just sharpen them a bit.
I think sometimes we lose the patience we once had. I know finally I spoke to someone that was doing the same to me, and I said why do I always have to be the one, whats wrong with you, if you want a hug from me come and get it, must I always make the first move. Ever since it's been different for sure. So maybe there is a way we learn to say things, and don't wait till we lose a great friend. But don't get me wrong my hubby and I just got rid of a dull knife 8mths ago, and we have been friends for 22years. Isn't that sad!!

You really gave me something to think about, thank you.
Have a blessed day

I have a wonderfully sharp knife in my life and thank God for her every day. The dull knives are just sort of there, not doing anything to sharpen me, but not active enough to dull me or damage. Great WFW post!

It's in all of our best interests to keep our knives sharpened. And to help others sharpen theirs.

Eight years ago, my family thought I was crazy when I spent nearly half a month's salary on a good set of knives. I have never, ever regretted spending that money and have considered it a great investment, especially now that I am home cooking three times a day!

How timely for you to write this post! I just was telling my husband last night that I wasn't going to be around a certain person anymore because I just couldn't deal with the drama she causes. I am definitely a no-drama-mama!

You are a sharp knife in my life! *smooch*
