Andy's sister, Sarah, has this update for us. Some of the initial details yesterday were a little off:
The doctors said they pulled a 3" long Russian-made sniper round out of his neck. The doctor said that this is the kind of round that pierces brick buildings...so it's no small miracle that Andy's still here. There's extensive damage to several vertebrae and while they are not for certain yet what the outcome will be, it's likely he will have limited use of his legs. Swelling, infection and other factors will determine the extent of the damage over the next few days. I guess you could say that we are trying to prepare ourselves to deal with the worst--seeing him permanently injured--while still expecting healing and complete recovery as a gift straight from the hand of God.Whatever the case, God is God and Andy is Andy and when the two get together...mountains move.
Here is the link to the article on the attack on Chosen Company: Article It is so tough to see the faces of Andy's friends who died.
Apparently on Andy's last leave he ordered a custom motorcycle helmet. It arrived last week. Daniel is taking it with him this weekend to Walter Reed and Sarah is taking motorcycle gloves. They both say they are taking them as symbols of Andy's life long determination and habit of being strong-willed, stubborness and doing whatever he wanted no matter who told him no.
Keep praying!

Well, no wonder you are emotional. We will be praying for Andy!!
We've still got our thoughts focused on Andy. Remember--Miracles can come true!
Man, seeing their faces really brings it home, doesn't it? Suddenly, they're not anonymous "soldiers"; they are real people with families and lives that were cut terribly short. My prayers continue for everyone involved and thanks to you, Deanna, for keeping us up to date and involved!
Still keeping you and Andy in my thoughts...
Still praying. Hopefully he'll come through this okay.
Holy crap, I'm a little behind on posts right now I'll have to go and find where this all began.
He is in my prayers.
Thank you for visiting my blog. We are so thankful for the men and women that serve our country. We will keep Andy in our prayers.
It's a miracle he's alive ... certainly he and his family are in my prayers!
