Frankly, Scarlett, I Need A/C!

Poor Big Guy! He spent his day volunteering at Good Samaritan yesterday with absolutely no air conditioning and when he got home at 7:00 last night it was really warm in our house. I told him, "Go take a shower and I'll turn down the air conditioner and pull a fan out to cool you off." I turned down the air conditioner but it never turned on. I went to check on it, reset it and checked on it again. Oh, man, surely not? This unit is only a year old! Just a baby! It can't be having colic. After getting Big Guy settled with a nice cold drink in front of the fan I went to find hubs who unfortunately was outside mowing the grass. Bless his heart.

He checked everything and then in true sweet hubs style, he went to Wal-Mart to purchase a few more fans to try to make everyone as comfortable as possible to sleep.

It kind of makes you rethink all those romantic Southern novels we grew up reading doesn't it? I grew up in Vicksburg where there are tons of antebellum homes. I worked as a tour guide at one of those homes. During the antebellum wonderment, there was no air conditioning. Women wore huge dresses and there was a lot of swooning for a reason and not just to get men's attention. There was a common belief that fresh air brought in illnesses so windows were kept tightly closed. People slept sitting up to avoid consumption and they didn't bathe too much because they didn't want to wash the natural oils from their skin because they felt that protected them from disease as well. Women used bear grease to slick their hair in place (keep in mind the no baths). All that fabric, no baths, bear grease, heat, and sweat.... still thinking it sounds romantic?

I have only gone one night without air conditioning and I can't stand myself. Fortunately, we have a great AC service and it will be repaired shortly. Frankly, Scarlett, I need A/C!

Our A/c went out a few weeks ago when it was 90+ degrees. That's just wrong.

We moved into Barnes & Noble for the weekend.

Doghouse - Katrina was worse... no A/C OR electricity!

Wifey - Sweaty, greasy funk -- that about sums it up.

Wyatt - I am willing to try that.

I hope you get it fixed soon! There is not much more miserable to me than trying to sleep when you're burning up!

I don't turn on the a/c unless it gets really hot, but when its hot I need it. I wouldn't have made it back then.

I do hope someone has made it out today to fix the a/c. Days like we've had lately, sometimes they just freeze up from constant running!! Yes, at least the electricity is on.

Ours was out for two weeks, and the repairmen finally came yesterday and fixed it. Of course, hubs cranked it up full blast and I had to break out the sweatshirt!

Sandi - Two weeks? I may need to get you the name of our repairman.

We didn't think it was anything major ... it would blow, but not cool. We just thought it was low on freon. But they had to chemically wash some part of it and fix the charge on it. Or something.
It's fixed now, though, and working exceptionally well. Brrr...
