When The Light Comes On -- Roaches Scatter

I have been thinking a lot about Moses the past couple of weeks. God has been helping me to see some of Moses' life experiences in a brand new way. Moses' life was filled with "wilderness", loneliness and even rejection. Consider this: 40 years in the dessert followed by years of representing a grumbling, whining, people who finally follow him out of Egypt to wander in the dessert for another 40 years until they arrive at the Promised Land which Moses wasn't allowed to enter because of his disobedience.

And what about Jesus? Perfect in every way. Willing to die for our sins so that we could have eternal life. He had twelve disciples who lived with him 24/7 but when the rubber met the road where were they? Nowhere to be found.

I have learned a lot over the past year, but the one thing I have figured out I already knew from studying the Bible. If you are doing the right thing. You stand alone.

Whether you are Moses leading the people out of Egypt.

Whether you are Jesus hanging on a cross.

or whether you are just a mom trying to do what is right.

You have to make a decision. Count the cost. Be willing to stand alone.

For a more rudimentary analogy: When the lights come on, the roaches scatter. (Shiver.)

Narrow is the path to righteousness and wide is the road to destruction. I remember this scripture but can't think of the location in the Bible. Mind is first to go. That path we must take as a true Christian is narrow, and that road does not have alot of room for others to travel, so they the comfortable route. That comfort is only limited to this life. God is with you even when you feel you are alone in your stand. I am praying for you, and I understand how you feel. Great Post.

Deanna, awesome post; great reminder although I could have done without that very last paragraph! ;-)

Counting the cost and being willing to stand alone are a lot harder than they seem except, oddly, where my kids are concerned. Then it isn't hard at all. I wonder if that's a small tiny microscopic little bit of how Jesus felt when He sacrificed Himself for us.

Oh girl. God has put me in the MIDDLE of spiritual no-man's land here lately so I TOTALLY feel you on the lonliness. It's so hard isn't it? (((hugs)))

Standing up for what is right is the only righteous course. I agree with you wholeheartedly! BTW, got a Great New Giveaway going on over at my place, to commemorate my 100th post--please stop by!

One of the immortal phrases of police supervision is this: "Better to make a wrong decision, than to make none at all." You use your best judgment and you'll be okay.

Unless, of course, you're Paris Hilton.

I have found this to be true and reflected on Moses recently too.

Great post. Why is it? Cowardice? Fear? Laziness?? Apathy? Short attention span? This would be a great philosophical discussion!

Love your new look!
